"Bärnerland" Apartment No. 4, Kandersteg,  Switzerland

Chalet "Bärnerland" was constructed during 2001 in traditional Swiss style. Apartment No. 4 is on the first floor. It has a large open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen furnished to a high standard (5 star).

 

 

The spacious, comfortable lounge has a cable television including BBC World. It opens onto a balcony with excellent views of the surrounding mountains.

The kitchen is extensively equipped with oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher etc..

 

The apartment sleeps four people in two bedrooms, each with twin beds. All bedding and towels are provided.

All floors are heated for comfort. There is a shower room with wash basin and toilet. There is also an additional toilet room. A telephone is provided for incoming calls and outgoing emergency calls. A laundry room adjoins the apartment and has an automatic washing machine and drier.

An underground car park is situated below the chalet which contains a dedicated parking space. Also in the basement is a storage room for skis, mountain bikes etc..

Upon your arrival a bottle of wine will be waiting for you. The kitchen will be stocked with fresh milk, tea, and sugar. For your other needs there are several good shops in the village centre, all within a five minute walk.

The excellent, family run Hotel Bernerhof is just a short walk away and has a very good restaurant. They take all bookings and handle enquiries about the apartment.

Whatever the season, Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland has much to offer the visitor. In winter an ideal centre for cross country skiing (one trail passing within 100 metres of the front door), downhill skiing to medium standard, ice skating and husky sledging. In summer it is an excellent base for walking, trekking and cycling. Well signposted paths cover much of the surrounding valleys, hills and mountains. The flora and fauna are world famous.

Kandersteg is served by a main line railway, the BLS, making travel to and from Zurich, Geneva and Basle airports simple.

Thun is just 40 minutes away by train with the Lake Steamer terminal next to the station. Berne is one hour away with excellent shops, museums etc..

In the other direction, Brig is a junction for narrow gauge trains to Zermatt, Andermatt and Chur (the Glacier Express) as well as mainline trains to Italy.

It is possible to travel between London and Kandersteg in one day by train. The station is only a ten minute walk from the apartment.
